Ornamental Grasses

Some of the best plants for the Dallas area are ornamental grasses. Ornamental grasses perform well in full sun and are drought tolerant. There are hundreds of different grasses to select from ranging in size from 1' tall to over 10' tall. Select the variety that will grow to the appropriate size for the location.

Here's another Landscape Studio tip with David Castagno. I'm going to fill you in on one of the best low-maintenance plants for our DFW area - ornamental grasses.

Why Ornamental Grasses?
Why ornamental grasses? Well, because they are drought tolerant, they can take the heat, and they move in the wind. The best ones are Mexican Feather Grass (originally native in mountains of west Texas and southern New Mexico), Adagio (Miscanthus sinensis Adagio or Adagio for short), Variegated Japanese (Variegated Japanese silver grass Miscanthus sinensis 'Variegatus'), and Pink Muhly (Muhlenbergia capillaris) grasses. These work well in any landscape and you may have seen them on the George Bush Turnpike. I know you'd enjoy them. I want to work with you in creating the perfect landscaping design. Call me.
